2. THE AKSHAYA PATRA FOUNDATION: The World’s Largest School Lunch Programme has expanded its services from 1,500 beneficiaries to over 1.7 million beneficiaries over the course of 18 years. In 2016, they reached a cumulative 2 billion meals provided. In all, they have served 3 billion meals since its inception in 2000. They serve freshly cooked food and nutritious meals to 1.7 million children in 36 locations across 12 states in India. Currently, they implement the mid-day meal programme in 14,173 schools of the country.

Shri Chanchalapathi Dasa, the foundation’s Vice President, has been working in the field of spiritual education since 1984 and social development since 2000. Although he had been passionate about science since his schools days, he was introduced to Indian spirituality as an undergraduate student in PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. Impressed by the profound concepts of spirituality, he pursued the same even more vigorously while doing his master’s program in Electrical Communication engineering at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

He combined his values of compassion from his spiritual learning with his education in technology and applied the same to create a social development organization like The Akshaya Patra Foundation.
During our visit, we at khichdi (rice and lentil mix with spices).

Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. People either enjoyed my undeniable charm or enjoyed watching me eat things like coconut worms, and thus Best Ever Food Review Show came to be.

I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer. If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I’m a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Don’t forget to subscribe to Best Ever Food Review Show, so we can connect through food and travel and become Bestys!

  2. so world hunger is a manufactured lie then? We can feed the world but for "reasons" we don't. Great video, was really eye opening!

  3. That is hard work, for the workers in the kitchen. You were rocking that hair net. I guess it a balanced meal, the lentils provide the protein as it pure vegan. In the West, they would have to butcher hundreds of animals every day.

  4. Wow! Very impressive! It is incredible that they do this, Every Day! Yes, the future of India is in its children. So good to see very good hygiene. Gloves, hair nets, aprons, changes of shoes. I would eat it every day. I loved the interaction with the kids. They will remember you for the rest of their lives. Good job. Excellent video! Now, pop quiz, do you remember the names of the two kids next to you? 'cause we are so used to a John and Mary.. Ha! Ha! Very cool! Those kids will never forget you.

  5. We have to protect our children. White black green or yellow. They are not just our future, but the survival of our species. They are little candles that will become amazing bright lights. God bless these people.

  6. Why do western media outlets send the such obnoxious blabbermouths internationally. My mans needs to shut up and stop trying to be funny for a second
